background / biography
“Iggy humped Kiss and out popped these guys” At least that was the quote from the review. Between Nov.1993 and 2002 Rocket 69 played and toured the Eastern Seaboard along with The Ramones, The Supersuckers, DGeneration, The Rev. Horton Heat, Rocket From The Crypt, Electric Frankenstein, Zeke, Adam West, Big Sandy and the Fly Right Boys, Jeff Dahl,…all most Quiet Riot (unfortunately Kevin Debrow was jailed in North Carolina the night before on old charges. We played anyway to a WAY bummed house.), and many, many more.

The Line up changed over time a few times. Bass player Ben Lawes (Mudd Helmut, Blind Boys), left in 1994 and was replaced by Ron Kitagawa (The Kitagawa Kid), Guitarist Rock Koplin left in 1995 and was replaced by Tim “The Rock” Steel, and Steven Tyler never showed up, but we kept a microphone stand draped and tied with and old ripped T-Shirt neckline for a scarf just incase he did. Even though he didn’t and still doesn’t have a clue who we are/were. Scott Schuppert came to the band by way of “The Beex and Dirty Secrets, Dan-O Deckelman by way of Mudd Helmut, The Service (NYC). Dan-O later joined Adam West for 3 tours of Europe in 2002-2005, 2 Albums/CD’s "God’s Gift To Women", Power To The People (Both on People Like You Records and Recorded @ Snake Oil Records/Recording, Dan-O’s recording studio in Richmond, VA. Snake Oil Recording Web Site Click Here Several singles released on various lables, and a split 7" with The Hellacopters (People Like You, Recorded @ Snake Oil Records/Recording). But the last line up lasted 8 years or so and saw much action.
Schuppet and Dan-O are currently working on a new project The Sourberry, http://www.myspace.com/TheSourberry Releases will be forthcoming shortly.

Scott Schuppert – Drums Ron “The Kitagawa Kid” Kitagawa – Bass Tim “The Rock” Steel – Guitar Dan-O Deckelman – Guitar, Vocals

Releases Include: Richmond Music Co-Op Vol. 3 (3 Songs, Wanna Be, Empty, and ‘77) 1994 Demolition Diary 1995 Snake Oil Records (only a few hundred left so get them now. Email for details) Six Foot Thirteen (Split Single, Limited Red Vinyl, Black Vinyl) 1997 (some left, email for details)

A small amount of collage radio play help with each release and much was written about the band in the form of review and interview. Two videos were also made in true low budget fashion…um free that is. This back before digital was widely available BTW. One was done by a good friend now sadly departed due to a drunk driver out west (Carol Torrkington of Ch 6 news), and two by director Jim Streamel (The Thrillbilly’s, My **** Is Bleeding).

There are 7 or 8 un-released/un-finished tracks that were going to be the next record/CD that are being considered for release now. When time permits they will be.
